Deoghar


Deoghar is also known as the house of the god.
Deoghar is famous for the Baidyanath Dham located in this city. The place is a popular health resort. It is an important center of Hindu pilgrimage as the ancient temple of Lord Shiva – Baidyanath Dham is here, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India

A month long Mela takes place in the month of Shravan (July/August) and at that time the place is visited by many devotees, who want to offer holy water to Baba Baidyanath. The pilgrimage is said to be complete when worship is also done at Basukinath temple which is 43 km from Deoghar.

Religious place

Baidyanath Temple, Nandan Hills,Naulakha Temple, Kundeshwari Temple, Nav Durga Temple, Satsang Ashram, Mahadeo Falls, Harila Joria (8 km), Tapovan(10 km), Trikut Hills(17 km) are major tourist attractions.

Other places of interest are Mandar Hills (69 km) which is believed to have been used by the Gods to churn Oceans and Sultanganj (100 km) which is situated between the two banks of the holy river Ganges.
PagalaBaba Temple (7kms), Ramkrishna Mission Ashram (4kms), Arogyaa Bhavan (5 kms).


How to Reach

The nearest airport is at Patna 281 km from Deogarh. By rail one can come up to Jasidih and from there take another rail to deogarh, or from jasidih a person can hire private taxi, and can also go by bus. Deogarh is connected by road to various other parts of the state.
